LDAP new new new new newbie

Hello all,

I've just started a new job and we use LDAP. I'm very new to this area
and I am thinking of setting up OpenLDAP at home on my Mandrake 10 box
(I installed last night :)). Is it worth it for just 1 user and for
testing purposes? I've been reading the FAQ's and the Admin manual
from http://www.openldap.org but to be honest much of it doesn't
really make much sense. I'm sure once I apply it to a practical use
all the dots will connect.
