Yeah.  That's what I thought too.  I did
originally have the ldap backend listed after
the monitor declaration and slapd started ok.

But due to some tricks  was trying to play
with the suffix of the bdb and ldap backends
I had to move the ldap section to the top
of my slapd.conf.  That's when I noticed the crash.

It's no big deal right now, but if I get
time next week, I'll catch it in gdb and
see what's going on.

I'd file an ITS at http://www.openldap/its/ since it is definitely a bug for slapd to crash just depending on the order of database definitions...
