Are you a "customer" of OpenLDAP project? I seriously doubt that.

If it's so important for your business having REL_ENG_2 maintained I'm pretty sure you can hire somebody doing it for you and get it in the REL_ENG_2 branch. Several hints came through on this list who to hire.
