slapd starting problems with openldap 2.0.13 ...

Hi all,
             Here we have been trying to set up open ldap version 2.0.13 on a
linux box having version 7.1 of linux installed in it. We have tried  out with
both Berkley db 3.2.9 and 3.2.11 as the back end database.

In both the cases we have got the same error which i am pasting below , which
crops up when we try to start slapd ..

[root@chnldap openldap-2.0.13]# /usr/local/libexec/slapd -d 256
daemon: socket() failed errno=97 (Address family not supported by protocol)
backend_startup: bi_open 0 failed!
slapd stopped.
connections_destroy: nothing to destroy.

Any suggestions as to where we are going wrong???
