The problem is that, while slapd is running, there is the possibility that
not all the data in the system is written to disk when you run slapcat - the
database may be in an inconsistent state.
This isn't OpenLDAP specific - perhaps it doesn't suffer from this problem.
But my solution is to not take the chance, and just stop slapd if you need
to slapcat.
