nismap for use with automount

I am working on making openldap replace nis in a test network. Ive
made every thing about users, groups, protocols, and so on work, but i
cannot find any good examples which uses openldap as source for the
automounting maps for both solaris and linux. Ive read something about
using nismap, but i have not found any examples of how this is done!
is there anyone who knows where to find some more info, or have made a
similar solution work for them which may share their knowledge.
