Maybe because you're asking on the wrong list.  This list is
for general LDAP discussions (ie: not specific to any particular
implementation).  Questions specific to OpenLDAP software should
be directed at the OpenLDAP software mailing list.  Questions
specific to other LDAP implementations should be directed at
lists specific the implementation.

On the subject of certificates, see archives of this and/or
the software list.  The usual answer is to use "userCertificate;binary".
