The original issue should be fixed now in master.

Maybe the fix also addresses this issue.  The problem was related to the
use of an uninitialized pointer in a circumstance that could not occur
when logging successful operations.  I note that internal operations
(related to slapo-unique(5), but also to slapo-refint(5)) get logged, or
at least processed.  Not sure whether this is intended or not.
