This move had no effect: root@ubuntu3:~# mv /etc/ldap/ldap.conf /etc/ldap/ldap.conf.bak root@ubuntu3:~# ln -s /etc/ldap.conf /etc/ldap/ldap.conf
Your output from sudo on that box *clearly* states that sudo-ldap uses "/etc/sudo-ldap.conf".
Why are you screwing with /etc/ldap/ldap.conf or /etc/ldap/conf? Neither of these files are used by sudo on debian/ubuntu.
