You either need:

mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN

in your /usr/lib/sasl/slapd.conf

or you need to explicitly specify a plaintext mechanism:

ldapsearch -Y PLAIN -U oshim -W -b dc=myproject,dc=net

saslauthd cannot support DIGEST-MD5 authentication.
