Ok. So what exactly do you mean by "slapd goes down". The process goesaway? The process is present, but not answering queries? etc. If theprocess goes away, make sure you have core files enabled, and can get abacktrace from it. If the process is running, but not answering, make sureyou get a backtrace from the running process.
