Hmm, the FAQ entry doesn't even mention replication.

Compared to syncrepl, I find MySQL's replication mechanism immature, and for 
data currently sitting in MySQL that I need in multiple sites, I'm currently 
looking at migrating it to LDAP ...

BTW, what are your employer's reasons for wanting to backend on MySQL ?
