I did 'service ldap restart' and the CPU times are back to normal. I also
did a 'yum check-config' and there is no update yet from the FC5 server.

You should ask a Fedora mailing list, but I doubt you're going to see any update on this front for FC5. If this is the case, you should give serious consideration as to other sources of OpenLDAP software, because you could be sitting on a time bomb.
