Obviously, both the ldd and the slapd output show that bdb isn't linked in
to your copy of slapd. I'd rerun autoconf, maybe put an explicit
--enable-bdb=yes (although that's default so...yeah. make it explicit
anyway), and look carefully for bdb-related autoconf output to
screen/config.log/etc.
Note that most OpenLDAP users wouldn't recommend BDB 4.3, but that's
neither here nor there...
