afaik, overlays compiled in slapd.
Just read slapo-translucent(5) and create something like that:

moduleload      back_ldap
database        ldap
suffix          "o=your_org"
overlay         translucent
uri             "ldap://ldaphost";

Use slaptest for control your config file.
