As for the SSL issues you are having, the problem is really quite clear 
from the config.log:

Your libcrypto library contains references to functions in other libraries 
that were not made a part of the linkpath, so that needs to be addressed.

Is there any particular reason you are building your libraries static 
instead of shared?
