It's not very clear to me what you are asking.
In either Linux or Solaris OpenLDAP should be run in runlevels where the
netowork is enabled, this leave us runlevel 3 and maybe 5.
RH Linux might take his own scripts, for solaris take a look to an other
script and adapt it.
