The Project has no set date, at least not yet, for moving 2.2 to historic status. I would expect a date to be set until some time after 2.3 is marked "stable".

Can an LDAP 2.3.x master replicate to an LDAP 2.2.x slave?
With slurpd, I believe it would be fine. I'm not sure about syncrepl.
