I suspect you are not configuring ldapsearch(1) properly.
In a one of your posts, you mentioned keywords which are
not valid OpenLDAP ldap.conf(5) configuration directives.
Seems to me you might be confusing OpenLDAP's ldap.conf(5)
file and its directives with some other software's
ldap.conf file and its directives.
