Install problems

I've configured my ldap server as per the gentoo howto and the samba
howto, but I can't seem to connect to it with ldapsearch. I'm running on
a private network and the hostname domain doesn't match the dc=. Does
the dc have to be the same as the domain name? Anyway here's the error
