I'm glad it works. It is probably either a bug in BDB, or a problem with OpenLDAP that hasn't been encountered generally with a smaller amount of databases.
I wouldn't consider this to be a bug. More likely the machine just ran out of address space for all of the memory mappings that BDB uses per database environment.
