Just curious, but when would you want to have your transaction logs and DB on the same partition out of choice?

Data Recovery and Performance wise it should always be better to have
separate spindles (and another one for your logs if you're doing much logging)

Just thinking of Oracles 12 spindle 'compromise' here ;)

You have said this many times, but you should at least qualify it. I
have a situation where it is most certainly *not* wise to have the
transaction logs anywhere but on the same partition as the database ...
