Re: how to make solaris 8 authenticate to an external openldap server




It's possible, I've done this when setting up samba servers to use ldap.

I can't remember the reasoning but I'm pretty sure the samba how-to recommended
Padl's pam_ldap and nss_ldap (Have a look for samba / ldap howto's)

You also need to set up a /etc/ldap.conf file. (I edited the one that came from padl.com)
Then when you do a ldapsearch, things like the host are looked up in there (or the users .ldaprc as I recall)


Sorry if I'm a bit vague - it was all a while ago, but you should be able to get the info you
need from the samba/ldap/pdc how to.
