I tried what you suggested, but I'm still getting the error with softerra. Yet, everything works correctly when I connect via java, or when I just do an ldapsearch. So I don't know what it is that they are doing on their end to raise this "Administration Limit Exceeded" error.
I could probably make them aware of the error, and I'm sure they would be able to better tell you what they are asking the server for when they get this error.

please, don't push limits to the limit ;)
I think you can get what you intend by using
limits * size.pr=0 size.prtotal=none
I'll make it look more reasonable ASAP.
