Effect of changing schema?

Hi,

Under what conditions would I need to completely rebuild my database (i.e.,
slapcat + slapadd) following a change in schema?

1. Any time a schema file that was included in slapd.conf is changed.
2. Only if there is data that is described in the schema file in the
database.
3. Any time anything other than DESC have changed about any data that exists
in the database.
4. Never. Just need a restart.
5. Other (more complicated explanation).
