oh ?

ldif:

dn: qwidoApp=qwido
objectClass: qwidoApp
qwidoVersion: 2.00
cn: The Big Boss
userPassword: secretively

ldapadding this ldif:

adding new entry "qwidoApp=qwido"
ldapadd: update failed: qwidoApp=qwido
ldap_add: Naming violation (64)
additional info: naming attribute 'qwidoApp' is not present in entry

Care to explain why 'dc: com' is not needed in Sonjay's example ?

I mean, of course I take your word for it, but I just don't understand. (RTFM?
Again ?)

Would a root node like this work (with the appropriate suffix in slapd.conf):

dn: qwidoSomething=whatever,qwidoApp=qwido
objectClass: qwidoApp
qwidoVersion: 2.00
cn: The Big Boss
userPassword: secretively
qwidoSomething: whatever

- From the updated Quick Start Guide, which is aptly named:
http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin22/quickstart.html

'The following is a quick start guide to OpenLDAP 2.1 software, including the
stand-alone LDAP daemon, slapd(8)'.
