I just adopted a tree very much like yours.
I think it's up to your interface to make maintenance easy.

However, if you choose a customer-based tree, just make objectclasses  for 
dns, email etc etc 
and have the dns server filter (objectclass=dns), the email server filter 
(objectclass=email) etc etc.

That's my 2 cents.
