Have a look at Samba. You might think you don't need Samba, but the
whole philosophy is precisely what you want to do, including Openldap
integration for Windows (all kinds of 32bit).
Samba 3 is very near final release, so concentrate on that. Download the
pdf HOWTO first and read it.
