What's the status of collective attributes in LDAP?

Hi all

We want to publish customer information from our CRM system to LDAP.
The public website will use LDAP to authenticate users. We also want
to publish information about a customer's licenses to LDAP. All
contact persons of a particular customer share the same license
information. Therefore, we want to publish the license information as
a collective attribute of the customer, so that it is accessible as an
attribute on each contact person, where contact persons are sub-entries
of customers.

- Is this a sensible way of doing things?

- Where should I look for documentation on setting up collective
  attributes in OpenLDAP? Is this a good place?
