AFAIK, you will need to compile LDAP with Samba support. Windows will authenticate against the Samba DC, which in turn will pass the request up to the LDAP server. The only LDAP (and it isn't even a complete/correct server) that Windows desktops can auth. against out of the box is AD. I wish/hope someone would write something that will fix this MS mistake, cause Redmond sure won't.
