ldappasswd problem (answer)

Hello,

Very recently someone posted a question about ldappasswd, and how it
seemed to reset their passwords instead of changing it.  Sorry, I
deleted the message so can't reply to the proper "thread", but the
answer is here:

Also, ldappasswd generates a random password if you don't specify -s
or -S to set a new one.  This worked for me:

ldappasswd -S -D "uid=${USER},ou=people,dc=kearneys,dc=ca" -x -W
