Nothing really. They were used in Cyrus SASL 1.x.
Cyrus SASL 2.x looks for them just in case you're working with a 1.x password
database that has been converted to 2.x format. The Cyrus 2.x saslpasswd tool
no longer creates these values, so there's very little likelihood that you'll
ever run into them. I suppose you could write your own code to create and
store these values in slapd, if you wanted to have a different password for
each mechanism. Otherwise they're just obsolete cruft...
