I'm running slapadd again now but with indexes this time (i.e., I'm starting
over and following your suggestion).
Thanks for taking so much time with this and sharing your results. FWIW,
it may also be enlightening to try loading/indexing this data with
logging turned off for comparison. Sorry if you already did this and I
missed it, or if this is otherwise irrelevant.
In my own little experience, if there is a noticable gap in performance
between OpenLDAP and iPlanet, it's here. I loaded lots of LDIF data into
iPlanet servers, with schema checking on and indexes in place, and it
was markedly faster per my own qualitative observations. Not that I have
intentions of going back ;)
