Two Newbie Questions
(1) slapd does not provide property inheritance, right?
For example, say my directory has two levels: country and people. The
entries in the people "folder" do not automatically inherit the "c"
attribute of their parent folder, right? So if I am using an
LDAP-aware addressbook that just displays the attributes of each
person's entry, I have to duplicate the country field in order
to get it to show up in the addressbook. Either that, or the
addressbook client must be smarter and show the parent info as you
switch from on record to the next.
(2) Is there any special meaning given to "o" entries?
For example if now my directory has two levels, but the second level
has two "folders"--organizations as well as people. Even if each
person is associated with an organization, I cannot do things like
use the organizations address for each person. Again, with a basic
(stupid?) LDAP parser, in order to get an address associated with a
person I would have to duplicate the information.
Basically, this kind of functionality is need to be implemented on the
client, not the server.
