Slapd startup errors <- will someone help this time please

I've rebuilt openldap 2.1.14 and when trying to start the server I get the
error

Error loading ucdata (error -127)

Is there something I could have missed when compiling or is it something
else, I read on some site that its caused by nothing being in the default
directory /var/run/ucdata, but I never had this directory with my last ldap
server and its not on any others that I use. Does this data come with the
operating system or with LDAP??
