ldap_simple_bind_s() failed - Protocol error

Hello All,

I installed Apache-2.0.44 and openldap-2.1.12 in redhat linux

Both have installed without any error and works fine in basic testing.When i
configure apache to authenticate against ldap user

i got following error in apache log
[Thu Mar 06 15:57:05 2003] [warn] [client 172.16.1.135] [15881] auth_ldap
authenticate: user joe authentication failed; URI / [ldap_simple_bind_s()
failed][Protocol error]


but its working fine when i use openldap-2.0.27 i was able to authenticate.

Is there any problem with openldap-2.1.x versions or should i do something
in configuration options.
