Hi,
I installed Openldap 2.1.12 on a Linux 2.4.20 System.
It work well, I can use ldapadd to add new entrys and ldapsearch to find my
entrys. A graphical frontend like gq work well, too.
So, LDAP seems to work correctly.
Now I tried to set up this LDAP server as an adressbook for Netscape 4.80 for Linux.
When I try to access the LDAP-Server with a search, I get:
Failed to bind to 'localhost' due to LDAP Error 'Protocol Error' (0x02)
I did some research with google and found in:
http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-general/199906/msg00083.html
to add the line
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.ua_1.vlvDisabled", true);
in preferences.js
But it is still not working.
I read that the problem is that Netscape normally uses LDAP protocol type 2 and
the fallback from protocoll type 3 to 2 sometimes is not working properly.
Is there any change to force my LDAP-Server to use protocol type 2, f.e. with an
additional line in slapd.conf?
Thank you for tips, Bernd
