sasl-regexp and mech external

Hello,

openldap-2.1.3
cyrus-sasl-2.1.6
openssl-0.9.6g

when I do a
 ./ldapsearch -Y EXTERNAL -ZZ -D "cn=dieter \n
 kluenter,ou=partner,ou=users,o=avci,c=de" -H "ldap://marin.l4b.de"; \n
 -b "" -s base .....

I get
SASL/EXTERNAL authentication started
SASL username: Email=dieter@l4b.de,CN=Dieter Kluenter\2Cou=partner\2Cou=users\2C
o=avci\2Cc=de,OU=ldapclient,O=avci,L=Hamburg,ST=Germany,C=DE
SASL SSF: 0

Any idea how to normalize "SASL username" to a binddn? I have tried
several sasl-regexp in slapd.conf, but with no success.
