It isn't the blank line it's complaining about, it's the space dash
space in:
dn: cn=List - KCLUG,mail=kclug@kclug.org.It's hopping over the blank
line.
If and when you correct this (escaping? removing the spaces?), it will
start complaining about the DNs. There's no way you can organize what
you have in a single DIT.
Why not try reading the guide on openldap.org?
