Re: thread problem OpenLDAP 2.1.8 + Solaris 8 -- slapd locks or dies
After running a query script overnight, slapd's performance moved to a
point where it would:
Run a batch of queries for about 6 seconds.
Pause for 4-5 seconds.
Run the next batch of queries.
db_stat reports no locks in the database.
I then stopped the queries, and waited an hour, and restarted it. The same
process continued, showing that whatever was happening with slapd had not
been freed up over time.
When I go to shutdown slapd, it refuses to shutdown:
Nov 17 09:37:47 ldap4.Stanford.EDU slapd[19795]: [ID 542995 local4.debug]
slapd shutdown: waiting for 0 threads to terminate
ldap4:/var/log# date
Sun Nov 17 09:42:26 PST 2002
ldap4:/var/log# ps -eaf | grep slapd
root 19795 1 0 Nov 15 ? 61:54 /usr/local/lib/slapd -h
ldap:/// ldaps:///
So something odd is definately happening with slapd somewhere. It looks
like it is failing to free up some type of resource over time.
