OpenLDAP compared to ...

Hi all,

Is there any public knowledge on comparisons between Active Directory and
OpenLDAP?  From what I've seen, they seem to have comparable features.

Also, I'm wondering about comparison in performance between LDAP to access
information versus, say, Apache+PHP+MySQL.  I really have no idea, but
suspect that LDAP might look pale when it comes to writing.  Any info or
experiences on this front?
