Distribution lists

I have OpenLDAP all set up (basic setup) and have been loading in
users through an LDIF file.  I am switching over from Exchange to running
things through LDAP and the one thing that is unclear to me is how to put
people in distribution lists that the whole group can see.  I'd rather do it
in
a centralized way on the LDAP server versus creating a whole bunch of
local lists.  I assume this is pretty basic so sorry for the newbie
question, but
I cannot see an obvious way.  Can someone help?
