Trigger registration with backend database!!!

Hi,
            I am using OpenLdap 2.0.23 package. I am using libraries provided by
OpenLdap. My client needs
to get a trigger whenever some external agent makes some changes to the
directory. Is there any way this can be done?
Is persistent search currently supported by OpenLdap 2.0.23?
