It's not the standard ldaps port, but if you specify port 639 when you
perform the client actions, then it will work just fine.  To use the
standard ports, just do:
  daemon ${slapd} -u ldap -h "ldap:/// ldaps:/// $OPTIONS $SLAPD_OPTIONS
