%cpu+ client query=problem?

I have few problems in the menagement of the ldap service ( iuse release
1.2.11). I'm doing few tests on the services ( i make some script to generate
virtual query -simply 'ldapsearch=uidX'-). I have observed:
1-the %cpu of process slapd reaches 99.9% and so slapd doesn't solves queries
2-if i do a generation of 100 queries (ldapsearch=uid) block the service (the
queries are almost snapshots).
Any idea?Have you some advise to give me?
