Create an encrypted password using the slappasswd utility
and copy and paste the new value
into the slapd.conf file directly below the sample one, but
remember to comment out or delete any older passwd entries
such as "secret" which comes with slapd.conf.

Remember to include the encryption method string with the
encrytped passwd as show below :

	{SSHA}^$*838hjdIOED93282>d

the slappasswd utility will default to using the SSHA
encryption method but you can change this to be {CRYPT},
{SHA}, {MD5} etc.

So create the slapd.conf password as follows :

	slappasswd -s freddy

and it will generate a string as shown above using SSHA as
the default encryption algorithm.

Now when you go to use ldapadd and you use the -W switch
(this prompts for the user to enter the password on the
command line), you type in "freddy" and it will authenticate
you as the Directory Manager.
