configurable item

Hi,

I have a Isode Ldap server which I want to act as a slave to openldap.
However the isode product does not support the dsamanageit control so slurpd
in 2.0.14 will not replicate to this server. I modified slurpd to treat this
control as non-critical and then the replication works. 

Is it necessary to mark this control as critical ?  If so, could it then be
a configurable item.  There might be more third party products that could
benefit from such an option.
