indeed, so just having it in the dn wolnt work?

i've changed things around a bit and i'm still getting an error,
although a different one. i've also started a fresh ldap dir based on
the ldif examples from http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin/quickstart.html

michael@loki:~/ldap_stuff > cat sig_empl_ou.ldif
dn: ou=employees,dc=legendary,dc=net
objectclass: top
objectclass: organizationalUnit
ou=employees

that gives me this:

michael@loki:~/ldap_stuff > ldapadd  -acrv -h loki -D
"cn=manager,dc=legendary,dc=net" -w ********  -f sig_empl_ou.ldif
ldap_init( loki, 0 )
ldapadd: invalid format (line 4) entry:
"ou=employees,dc=legendary,dc=net"
ldif_record() = 89

thanks,

michael
