Embed Directory server in an application

Hi all,


 I am trying to embed a directory server into an application.
 Can anybody suggest me a appropriate directory server and
 how to go about embedding a directory server into an application.
 I have been advised to opt for Netscape Directory server.Can
 anybody confirm this for me ??? ...please....
