start using ldap
Hello everybody
I am new using ldap but I'm pretty familiar with basic and advanced
notions used in ldap sofware and want to use it in my intranet. I will be
gratefull if anyone can help me with a problem that I can't escape of.
I compiled, tested and installed last version of openLDAP on my Redhat 6.2
machine. My slapd.conf file is:
include /var/local/ldap/etc/openldap/schema/core.schema
defaultaccess read
pidfile /var/local/ldap/var/slapd.pid
argsfile /var/local/ldap/var/slapd.args
database ldbm
suffix "dc=art-net,dc=ro"
rootdn "cn=Manager,dc=art-net,dc=ro"
directory /var/local/ldap/var/openldap-ldbm
index objectClass eq
access to * by * write
I start slapd daemon and try to execute the command:
# bin/ldapadd -a <entries.ldiff -v
The response is:
ldap_initialize( <DEFAULT> )
ldapadd: no attributes to change or add (entry="dc=artnet, dc=ro
dc: artnet o: Artnet objectclass: organization
objectclass: dcObject")
ldif_record() = 89
#
The file entries.ldiff is:
dn: dc=artnet, dc=ro
dc: artnet
o: Artnet
objectclass: organization
objectclass: dcObject
dn: cn=Manager, dc=artnet, dc=ro
cn: Manager
sn: Manager
objectclass: person
..and ldapsearch command tells me that no object can be found.
So, what can I do to insert new data over ldap ?
Thanks very much !
